Continuing on in the "Sword of something and something" cycle where they left off almost a decade ago. This one is almost as good, but the art is way better.

No where near as good as the old swords. The swords are made for aggro decks, and milling cards in an aggro deck is usless, your not going to kill them by milling. It's a waste of an effect. The wolf token is ok, but not as good as SOFI shock effect. Or as good as drawing a card, gaining 3 life, or returning a creature from the graveyard.

Also, the pro colors on this fail to be as useful as either of SOFI or SOLAS. A forgetable card that won't see play outside of standard. And even then, it'l be limited. There is just no reason to play this over the other two.

agreed. the first two swords are better and i don't get why they made this into a Mythic. but theres no reason not to include this in weenie or green beatdown decks

Both of the Abilities are two mana abilities, and Distortion Strike ain't gonna be bad this format, keep an eye on this card. Makes its own equip fodder.

If you ask me, the protections are lame, but the abilities are strictly better.

Blue/green mill deck. Put this on a thopter. It can't be bounced and it's pro-green/blue let it through the only thing that would otherwise stop it--bounces and blue fliers / green reach. Putting mill onto a creature (a lot of mill) makes up where mill lacks.

With a voltaic key a 2/4 thopter can serve as a solid blocker, attacker, and miller, that has a ton of evasion and is hard to stop.

Now you've got yourself two forms of pressure--a difficult 0 mana creature to deal with and a shrinking deck. I think I have a bit of inspiration.

Meh. Weakest of the cycle so far (assuming they might make more; perhaps one in New Phyrexia?).

Not as powerful as Fire/Ice, but still pretty good, especially if you are able to hit someone 3 or 4 times with it. The chances of eliminating threatening cards are quite high. Playing milling spells individually might not be worth it, but this thing is capable of happening over and over again. The wolf token also helps distract your opponent, block incoming attacks so the equipped creature can keep attacking, or add to your offensive might.

Deceptively powerful in Legacy Stoneblade lists not because of the extra abilities, but because of its protections. It's the only sword that grants protection from Jace, the Mind Sculptor Buy and Tarmogoyf Buy and that is surprisingly relevant in some matchups. Plus, it makes a body to equip this to each time it hits. Definitely not as immediately awesome as the other swords, but it's got some value.

Any card in magic can be used to win under the right circumstances and conditions, that dosen't make them good. By that logic, every card in magic is automatically good just because it CAN do something. That is not the case though, cards are rated on how good they are by themselves, not "Oh this is good because of this situation if all the stars line up just right! therefore it's a good card!" No, sadly that is not how it works. If I hit you with anything enough times you die, I guess that makes a one one vanilla good because you can lose to it under the right circumstances. Both abilities on this are weak, the protection from blue is negligible since blue only gets crappy bounce and no removal, pro green is pretty good but with these abilities who cares? Wow, a wolf token, that's REALLY so useful. Or, and follow me on this, I could run any of the other swords and have the abilities do something incredibly relevant. body and mind does not measure up to the other swords and other equipment of the same nature, therefore it is weak. A pro color that dosen't really matter, and abilaties that people will almost never care about. Every other sword is scary, but not this one.

Paragon is pretty much right in his evaluation of what makes cards good as stated above.

I also think this card is a LOT better than he evaluates it; which is fair.

this sword is actually better than Sword of War and Peace in an Aggro Vs. Aggro Deck. Sword of War and Peace is pointless in an aggro deck coz aggro decks dont keep huge hands perpetually limiting the second ability. Sword of feast and Famine is ok HOWEVER, comparing a card discarded versus TEN cards straight to the graveyard is better. Most magic players underestimate this card and yes the protection sucks but the abilities are better than the two other new swords. Play test first don't rate without testing the card dimwits.
