Penumbra Wurms EVERYWHERE! U r8 I r8,
How it Works
7/7/04 UPDATE - I've decided to use a sideboard... So that you guys understand, the actual deck still has those cards in it (I only play casually and we dont sideboard), but I didn't want you all to keep getting sidetracked from the point of posting (too many posts about the deck size...). Thanks, and I appreciate all your suggestions!
Please understand that the majority of my decks are for fun multiplayer games with my friends, and not for tournament play.
That said, I would still like to make it more potent and fun to play. And as with all of my decks, when I first put them out there they are a little.....HUGE! But no worries! This is why I have submitted them to be scrutinized and mulled over by you great Magic players
Feel free to make suggestions on cards to add or subtract, but if you want me to add a card, make sure you let me know what I am taking out, cuz I am NOT adding MORE cards!
Ok, so here is the main jist of this deck:
Wurms all over the place!
And just as a quick note... I run 3-4 of each of each crit in here because the deck focuses on abusing Verdant Succession Buy. That way I can keep bringing crits out of my library, while stacking my gy
Basically, I use my cards like Elvish Piper Buy and Defense of the Heart Buy to bring out my big bad wurms. When I've got Verdant Succession Buy out, i use any one of Recurring Nightmare Buy, Diamond Valley Buy, Stronghold Assassin Buy, etc, to send my wurms off to the graveyard, bringing out either a bunch of 1/1 insects or 6/6 black trample wurm tokens. This triggers Verdant Succession Buy and lets me bring in another wurm from my deck (to send to the gy). Using Lifeline Buy, Recurring Nightmare Buy, Genesis Buy or Oversold Cemetery Buy, I bring them back, and do it all over again. Within two turns of cycling through this combination of cards, I'll usually have 10+ 6/6 trampling wurms for people to choke on plus an innumerable # of 1/1 insects.
In simplest form, the basic combo is Penumbra Wurm Buy (or Symbiotic Wurm Buy), Verdant Succession Buy , Recurring Nightmare Buy & Lifeline Buy. OVER AND OVER AND OVER!!!
I would and could have made this deck a 60 card deck, but it would not play well in the large (usually 6-8 players) multiplayer games I play in. I need to have peripheral utility cards for defense and redundancy. That is why the deck is so dang huge! But please let me know which ones you think should go, and which ones might be replaced.
Let me know what you think, and please be constructive with your comments. U R8, I R8
