How it Works

It's hard to win without being able to cast spells or attack!

Limited Resources Buy deck. Rather than trying to destroy opposing lands, merely cram in as many lands as you can. Note that Limited Resources Buy doesn't say "put a land into play," but rather "play lands." So use all the Rampant Growth Buy-like effects that you can! Use Rampant Growth Buy, Sakura-Tribe Elder Buy and Reap and Sow Buy to fill the board up close to the 10 land limit.

Next, pick off opposing lands. Shoot your opponent's lands away with Creeping Mold Buy, Plow Under Buy, and Reap and Sow Buy. This can both get you more lands into play and deplete your opponent's most valuable resource.

Pestered by creatures? Rout Buy them! Why do I use Rout Buy and not Wrath of God Buy? Price. Wrath of God Buy is $10 each, and Rout Buy a mere $1. I don't need to worry about mana cost since I'll easily get the lands I need.

Finally, lock down! Normally, for a deck like this to work, you'd need to get rid of all of your opponent's lands. With this deck, you only need to get your opponent down to two lands. Why? Trinisphere Buy. If all spells cost 3 and your opponent has 2 lands, he can't play anything.

But you still have to worry about being attacked. With Ghostly Prison Buy in play, your opponent will have to divert every mana towards getting one creature to attack you. With two in play, the game is yours. Don't think you can get two? With Sterling Grove Buy, this is not a difficult task.

That still leaves winning. Once your opponent is dead in the water, how do you finish him off? Budoko Gardener flips! Start churning out as many elemental tokens as you can! Attacking with 10/10 monstrosities is guaranteed to get the job done.

The one final trick you can do is use Panoptic Mirror Buy. Recurring Creeping Mold Buy is a guaranteed win condition. Even worse is a recurring Plow Under Buy. It's extremely powerful.

You might notice the high mana curve and low amount of lands. Don't worry. With all the search this deck can get huge gobs of mana as fast as it wants it.

I'm considering splashing blue in for Pendrell Mists Buy. If you have any comments on this, please tell me!

(NOTE: For about two years I left this deck unchanged, and now with Kamigawa and Mirrodin blocks out I could make huge changes. In case you care, here's what I took out and replaced.)
