What's a Sideboard?

How it Works

Please remember when making suggestions, this is a block deck meaning cards only from these can be used:

1. Dark ascension
2. Inistrad
2. Avacyn restored

Summary

What is Block Rock

Block Rock is a long descendant of Sol Malka's "The Rock". Garruk Relentless Buy and Sever the Bloodline Buy are the new lynchpins of this new version. Those two card are proberly the best cards currently in the format. Block Rock is a {W}{B}{G} mid-range deck that consists of a creature disruption element, and effectively costed creatures around the four and five spot Bloodgift Demon Buy and Wolfir Silverheart Buy. The aim of the deck is to be at least 50/50 against all-matchups in the first game. After that, the SB is usually heavily-used to bring the matchup anywhere from 55/45 to 70/30. The idea is to go into every matchup with a shot at winning it.

Card selection

Creatures:

Avacyn's Pilgrim Buy:- Standard mana acceleration

Scorned Villager Buy:- More Mana acceleration

Borderland Ranger Buy:- Even more mana acceleration

Bloodgift Demon Buy:- A nice finisher, with some evasion and can fuel me into the end game

Fiend Hunter Buy:- In this format, i treat him the same as an oblivion ring

Mikaeus, the Lunarch Buy:- Fixes my mana curve and helps me win the creature battles

Restoration Angel Buy:- All sorts of clever tricks come out of this one

Ulvenwald Tracker Buy:- A sort of creature removal

Wolfir Silverheart Buy:- The beast

Spells:

Sever the Bloodline Buy:- With the predominance of token decks, this is a one sided board sweep
Planeswalker

Garruk Relentless Buy:- All round..perfect, hes not going to be any Jace TMS but hes very good on both of his sides. He can tempo with tokens, defend himself, search for the answers or overrun my opponent

Sideboard:

Sigarda, Host of Herons Buy:-

Slayer of the Wicked Buy:-

Tree of Redemption Buy:-

Ulvenwald Tracker Buy:-

Tribute to Hunger Buy:-

Curse of Death's Hold Buy:- Against those token decks

Nevermore Buy:-

Grafdigger's Cage Buy:-

Match Reports

Game 1 - 01/05/12 -Birthing Pod - (i know its not block but it was a good test)
MVC - Tragic Slip Buy - With them setting up the morbid rule for me, this hit hard.

I ran out a very quick Vorapede Buy that hit almost every turn due to the amount of removal i was running and never allowing them to 'pod' up

Game 2 - 02/05/12 - {G}{U} Selfmill/dredge
MVC - Sever the bloodline

A very well balanced game, removal again saved me. Fiend Hunter Buy countered, there wanting to put creatures in the graveyard. Sever the Bloodline Buy took away 2 Kessig Cagebreakers Buy before they hurt and then flashbacked to remove 2 Ghoultree Buy allowing bloodgift demon to hit home

Cards of Note

30/04/12:- Updated sideboard

01/05/12:- Swapped Somberwald sage for Use 4 Dawntreader Elk, which has synergy with Tragic Slip and can get lands that power out my non-creature cards

04/06/12:- Swapped Vorapede Buy for Wolfir Silverheart Buy, its just considerably better in every way

05/06/12:- Major Overhaul
