The Art of Legacy Burn

Explosive games, fast damage, and not a care in the world, this is Red Burn. A deck archetype that has never and will never seemed to burn out from the competition, Wizards willing. Regardless of the meta-game at your tournament that you go to you will find the diehard fans playing this in its many variations. Its direct approach to winning the game is loved and hated by many, but the simplicity of the deck design has critics who refer to it as the Newbie’s No Brian Deck due to the lack of intricate and complex synergies and combos.

Please understand that I am not writing this for the more experienced player. This is essentially to increase the knowledge of newer players that are interested in either playing Red Burn, maximizing their current version of Red Burn, or to better understand Red Burn when it’s being played against them.

There are a great many conceptions on what designates a great burn deck which can range from early game to mid game wins. Red Burn has a vast assortment of cards to choose from to deal damage directly to the opponents face with few fears of missing the target, but the quality of the cards greatly differ based on converted mana cost, damage dealt, duration, speed, and additional abilities of the spell. I have found it best to make the selection based off of a grounded set of rules when gauging the effectiveness of card selection:
