Storyline Questions? Post here! 2/23/2009 10:53:48 PM

If anyone has any Magic-related storyline questions, then I'd be happy to answer them. It doesn't matter what period its from, I'll try to cover them all. I'd also be happy to try to explain anything that is ambiguous or speculative rumors that surround the Magic storyline.

So...any questions?

A Planeswalker must protect any non-Planeswalker while they are in the Blind Eternities. The artifact resides in the users stomach (Xantcha), which would envelop them upon deployment, protecting them.

Molimo is the living avatar of Llanowar. He is very similar to Multani of Yavimaya. He did not really play that large of a role in the story. Essentially though, he was the being that represented the entire well-being of Llanowar. Really, it was Multani that the story focused on. If you'd like to know the specifics, I'd suggest the Invasion cycle of books. Its definitely entertaining and its essentially the main battle of the Magic universe all rolled up into one story arch across three books (four if you count The Thran).

Random Comment 7/28/2010 2:44:44 PM

I've got a couple:

1. Did Nicol Bolas get his old power back? From the way it was described, his whole plan on Alara wasn't simply to absorb the energy of the maelstrom, which would be enough to return him to his old power, but to take him to previously unreached heights. It looks like he absorbed a lot of mana from the maelstrom by the time he was defeated, so although large parts of his plan failed, the partial success looks like it might have been enough to restore him to the power he once had.

2. Sorin Markov sealed the Eldrazi on Zendikar thousands of years before the current storyline, which implies that he was a pre-mending planeswalker, who lost much of his power after the mending. However, he is seeking to fight the eldrazi again with just a few other planeswalkers, who are a lot less powerful than he once was. Are the Eldrazi also somehow just that much weaker?

3. I don't know if the book has been released or anything, but how does the eldrazi/zendikar arc end? It doesn't seem that it will be revisited in scars of mirrodin.

Honestly, we don't really know how powerful Bolas is. We know he is perhaps the most powerful being in the Multiverse, but we are unsure of the effect that the Maelstrom had on him. It seems as though we are far from done with this story arc.

I'll get to the other questions shortly.

Zendikar: Wierd plane with trees that punch you in the face, water that floats in the air, and land that is just overall angry/alive. Natives are of all different races, but the color wheel seems to focus on;

White = Kor

Blue = Merfolk

Green = Elves

Red = Goblins

Black = Vampires

Nothing new there really. Allies and Landfall introduced, kicker makes it's comeback.

Worldwake: Still on the wierd plane, land getting even more irritated for some odd reason known as the "Eldrazi". Jace, Chandra, and Sarkhan are staged here by Nicol Bolas due to some convoluted plot of his. Multikicker debutes, and Jace, the Mind Sculptor Buy is pretty much the only card worth pulling in the set.

Rise of the Eldrazi: Nissa Revane Buy accidentily screws up Sorin Markov Buy's attempt to reseal these big guys back into their prison, so now they're walking around sucking Zendikar's delicious mana dry. Nissa tries to repent by dedicating her life to stopping these jerks from sucking her plane's life away.

Story ends with Nissa searching for Sorin's help in doing so, and the Eldrazi running rampant on Zendikar.

Oh, and guess where you could've gotten this from? http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=Zendikar+Block+story+line

Honestly not that hard to do.

Geez, way to come in and ruin my party. I intended this as more of a discussion forum than anything. The Magic multiverse isn't easily accessible, so this was intended as a forum to explain certain things. Unfortunately, most people just ask for story summaries that they could find on Wikipedia. Regardless though, linking people to Google from a forum is so 2005. Get the hell out of my thread, please.

Anyway, I honestly won't be of any help to those of you who have questions post mending.
