Frakin' Women... 11/17/2010 5:53:57 PM

[vent] So I'm on this online dating site, right? And yet all the girls that I message ignore me. Even the ones that if they took a chance would find that they and I are incredibly in line with our interests (according to their profiles). Even the one girl who messaged me has stopped messaging me back. That's ok though, because all I saw there was a friendship. Additionally though, almost all the girls who I find interesting are on this site to get dates (supposedly) or new friends, and yet all they want to do is travel the world. Wtf mate? Why even create a profile if you know you're just going to ditch out on people? Heart breakers, all of 'em. (This circumstance may have already happened to me a few times in my life, can you tell?) [/vent]

Seriously, I'd like to blame them for their rudeness, but maybe it's my profile and how I may (or apparently) come off as being unattractive. I'd rather do the latter. However I don't know how to refine it except that perhaps I should say how well endowed I am (a lie) and how I make $100,000 a year and have no one to spend it on (also a lie).

Having high expectations sucks... you think I would have learned by now.

That sucks, Commander. Every day I get more and more of the impression that most girls/women really are idiots, and that they key is to find the rare one that isn't.

I've actually considered signing up for an online dating site in the past, but I've got too much pride and I would feel kind of pathetic. Not that you're pathetic for doing so, it's probably no surprise that I've got far too much pride for my own good.

Idiocy is not gender specific. Plenty of people of both genders chose to be ignorant and make choices that hurt themselves or others.

Yes you do. To the point of hubris.

@Zippo: Well if you tell us what's in your profile, maybe we can offer suggestions.

Maybe I am pathetic, I wouldn't be suprised. However I'm at OkCupid, which is free, which probably attracts people who aren't terribly serious when it comes to getting into relationships. I can't afford one of those pay sites. The reason I'm on the web is actually two reasons. One, it's impossible to meet people when you're done with school and live in suburbia without a night life. Two, I can't participate in a night life because I work at 4 am each morning, minus two days off where I still crash in my bed at about 8:00 pm.

I'll consider posting my profile for your review, but that's a lot that I'm not sure I want yall to know. I prefer to keep my image as an incredibly awesome dude on this site. That's what everyone thinks, right?

That's true, but I have no interest in dudez so they can go right on ahead being morons. Besides, I live in a very affluent college town so it feels like the vast majority of the girls here belong to the same rich, snobby, b*tchy archetype. Hell, they all dress alike too: yesterday in my 10 minute walk to class I counted 45 different females wearing some combination of Ugg boots, $400 North Face jackets, and/or leggings. That to me indicates a tremendous lack of originality, which is something I value in a girl, so why would I think favorably of them?

Quoting Rebel:

Being too embarrassed to join an online dating site does not hubris make, I'm a different person in real life than I am on this site. Yeah, my pride has kept me from doing a few things, but never to an extent that it's been debilitating--besides, my sense of pride has also motivated me to improve my station in life, so I'm happy with it.

You may not be the best source of advice, as I don't think most women are interested in the erotic mayonnaise baths, techno-trance oil rubbing sessions, or other bizarre sexual gymnastics that you're into. Happy

Go to the gym, take classes at the local community center/college, visit nearby sporting events, or volunteer somewhere (especially this one)...you'll meet a lady friend eventually.

And if those don't work, expand your horizons...go bisexual.

I think the ugg boots w/ leggings look is hot.

As far as the online dating goes I've never tried it, but of the two people that I know who have, both of them say that the free sites are rife with people who make fake profiles just to troll. In fact, I remember doing that with Yahoo personals a few years back. If you really want to do the on-line dating thing, you should probably either be more patient or shell out for the premium services.

Because technology is not advanced enough to perfectly mimic human life?

No, that's why they are called uggs, because they are ugly.

Actually I do all the former (Time to volunteer somewhere else I suppose), and have been considering the latter.
