I got started playing magic because my friends play, plus the game looked awesome! I finally threw together my first deck and the only advice I could get from them was "It's unbalanced but a good burn deck." I need someone to explain which cards I may want to take out/add and why, with out the way your honestly wasting your time giving me advice cause I won't listen. I want to learn, not be told what to do. If anyone would be willing to help me with my deck that would be awesome. I can beat people if I get lucky so I know my deck needs some work. My First Deck Thank you so very much. ^_^ Given

firstly, cut yourself down to 60 cards. i know its hard when theres lots of awesome cards to play, but its necessary. ![]() *disclaimer* any suggestions i make are purely hypothetical, unless otherwise stated. if you have playtesting evidence to prove otherwise, then feel free to ignore any suggestions i make

Definitely cut down the size of the deck as already suggested, but also take a look at each card that you only have 1 of. How often are you really pulling that card? What good does it do in your deck if you only draw it 1 game out of 10 or so? Also take a look at what special needs your cards have and how that synergizes with others. For instance, you have Artillerize Buy in there, which necessitates you sacrifice a creature. Which will you choose when it comes out? Do you know ahead of time, or is it a snap decision when you draw the card? Think about placing cards you know you'll be fine sacrificing. Chandra's Phoenix Buy might fit nicely with that. The most common interpretation of a "balanced" deck is 40% land, 30% creatures and 30% spells. But of course that's before considering the purpose of the deck (does it rely solely on burn, or on creatures? If so one will lean more heavily) or how the cards interact with eachother. Split your cards into types, then match them with similar cards or ones you'll combo. Consider stripping out those by themselves and building around those matches.

Every other game I end up taking a card out because I don't find it very useful. I took three cards out yesterday, so I'm getting their. Thank you though. ^_^

I normally know what cards I plan to sacrifice before the card is even in my hand, the rage goblins and mountaineers are mostly just in their for that reason. But a do again that having just one a a card is silly.... I mostly just put it in their because I liked it. And that phoenix card is awesome, I may be able to bum it off one of my friends. ^_^ Thank you

Seems like you have a small Goblin theme going, I'd honestly have to suggest Goblin Chieftain Buy as he gives all you're other gobos haste and pumps them, it's added pressure. I assume you guys just play for fun, and if that's the case then you may also consider things like Eldrazi Monument Buy if you can get it from a friend, if they have Coat of Arms Buy then that might work as well. I'd say put the two Pyroclasm Buy in you're sideboard as they'll ruin you're game plan as well. Besides that, working to up the count of each card in you're deck will improve it. Welcome to magic ![]()

My friend has a Chieftain but it's in his main deck so I can't use it. :P However I'll look through his cards for the other two. I was actually thinking about taking the pyroclasm cards out of my deck because I haven't been able to find a good/safe use for them since I built the thing. And thank you. ^_^

26 lands seems like overkill you could probably stand to drop 3 of em.

As you're playing extended, you could play a sac goblin deck. i used to have a gob/blast deck as well perhaps 8 years ago. Pump up your gobs, use cards like 1. Curse of Bloodletting ( double your damage) 2. Fling ( attack and then sac) 3. Hellrider ( awesome add on in red gob ) 4. change your blast card to Lightning Bolt. Way more awesome 5. Bloodcrazed Neonate ( the more you attack, the bigger it becomes permanently) 6.Curse of Stalked Prey (awesome for gob deck) 7. Scourge of Geier Reach ( the more creatures your opponent has, the bigger this creature becomes)

I would, but he's also my boyfriend's best friend so I'm not sure how well that will go. I may get him to let me borrow it for a game or two though. :P
