Wolf and Warrior Deck 5/15/2012 6:09:22 AM

Hey guys, I've been fiddling around the internet trying to custumize a deck. I have been getting head aches. I am fairly new to Magic but it has somehow creeped up into my sub conscious and will surely take over soon. I can master the beast though, I'm certain, if I could wrap this deck up to completion.

I was inspired by Wolfir Silverheart, and so the deck is loosely based around him.
I am looking at having:

4 x Hinterland Harbor Buy
1 x Cavern of Souls Buy
9 x Island Buy
10 x Forest Buy

4 x Wolfir Silverheart Buy
3 x Young Wolf Buy
3 x Sacred Wolf Buy
2 x Mirri, Cat Warrior Buy
2 x Master of the Wild Hunt Buy
4 x Phantom Warrior Buy
2 x Viridian Zealot Buy
2 x Jedit Ojanen of Efrava Buy
1 x Nephalia Smuggler Buy
2 x Wingcrafter Buy
1 x Acidic Slime Buy

1 x Ice Cage Buy
1 x Overrun Buy
2 x Joint Assault Buy
3 x Descendants' Path Buy

I would really appreciate any critique I can get, even if it is that the deck just blows in general. I would love to make as many switcheroos here as are necessary, only, I need some insight as to what is necessary. Thanks in advanced!

Well then, welcome to Magic: the Gathering! I noticed that you are new to this site, so perhaps you need to take some time searching for cards and soliciting insights to construct a decent deck. Good Luck and Enjoy!

Well you have some cards there that are no longer Standard legal. Maybe the best way to concentrate the theme of your deck onto one card is to include only Standard cards, thus strengthening your deck and improving its internal synergy.

As you mentioned, Wolfir Silverheart Buy is the core of the deck. Thus you have the other cards focused on him, probably on his Soulbond ability. On the basis of this matter, I have the following suggestions:

1) Include some mana-producers to accelerate your board position. Llanowar Elves Buy and Birds of Paradise Buy are the best options out there. Deranged Assistant Buy is fine, but is risky due to its drawback, which might cause you to lose a creature, particularly Wolfir Silverheart Buy early in the game.

2) You must have alternatives in case your Wolfir Silverheart Buy is missing in action. Druid's Familiar Buy and Trusted Forcemage Buy are almost equivalent cards for it. In general, you may choose to label the Soulbond ability as the main theme of your deck. Then from there, include other creatures with Soulbond that gives your paired creatures extra abilities. This modification would indeed build a solid synergy among your deck pieces.

3) I also realize that you have a little "tribal" theme in there, wherein some of your creatures are Wolf, some are Warrior, and others are Human. If you are not interested in Soulbond abilities, then you may concentrate on this theme. However, I suggest that you remove the Human tribe and stick with the Wolf and Warrior creature types because Wolfir Silverheart Buy is a Wolf Warrior. In this way, you may now increase the number of Cavern of Souls Buy in your deck. Moreover, Descendants' Path Buy becomes much more useful then.

4) Lastly, you may include Alchemist's Refuge Buy as another nonbasic land. It allows you to surprise your opponent with "three mana". I also suggest that you include a sideboard for cards like Naturalize Buy, to deal with your opponent's specific cards.

There you go! I hope those insights would help you improve your deck. Good Luck!Good

Overrall the deck theme is good, but instead of blue humans I would add white instead, changing the Hinterland harbor to Sunpetal Grove
