Mulldrifter question | 7/11/2012 12:42:10 AM |

Hi, does playing Mulldrifter Buy for it's evoke cost count as casting a spell? I ask this because I'd like to play it with Equilibrium Buy and return it to my hand before it dies. Thanks!

Evoke is an alternative casting cost, you are still casting the spell. So when you cast Mulldrifter Buy for its Evoke cost, Equilibrium Buy will trigger. The problem for you is that you have to choose a target for Equilibrium Buy's triggered ability right away, before the Mulldrifter Buy resolves and enters the battlefield, ie the Mulldrifter Buy you just cast is still a spell on the stack at the time and is not a legal target. So you can't use Equilibrium Buy to return the creature spell you cast that triggers it. - HZ DCI MTG Rules Advisor
