A new take on Exalted - help with Zur EDH | 7/19/2012 2:02:15 AM |

So I am trying to use the Exalted mechanic, but I want to be able to use esper colors (I am tired of Rafiq). In this case, I think Zur is the best bet. He can win through so many quick means (enchant for infect, unblockable, etc) and the goal is usually to win with general damage. With exalted, that end comes about even sooner. Thus, the idea for this deck is to control the board enough that Zur stays safe, and use him as my primary attacker, with a few alternate beaters just in case. Please let me know of ways I can trim this down though (I decided to take out land destruction/control themes since everyone said they would not play against it): http://essentialmagic.com/Decks/View.asp?ID=937890 Trading Forum

Any takers? Im thinking of adding in a Tamiyo, because her ultimate + dream halls is awesome, though I am thinking that may not really be worth it, as it is more of a late game mechanic since it takes a while for her ultimate to appear. Trading Forum

cut - exalted all of it. why? its not very good. it forces you to overcommit for no reason and does not speed up your clock. all you have to do is find empyrial armor on the 3rd activation and you basically swing for 10+ damage every turn. put in, Empyrial Armor Buy. if your feeling especially greedy you can put in Empyrial Plate Buy. Lightning Greaves Buy, Swiftfoot Boots Buy, the red ring from M13 (dont know what its called) are important to enable haste, which speeds up the clock by a whole turn. overall - zur is extremely repetitive. you win in the exact same manner every game, searching for the exact same enchantments every time. its also not very fun to play against, since you have to basically mulligan into a spot removal spell otherwise he will just stomp all over you before you can find an appropriate sweeper. ![]() *disclaimer* any suggestions i make are purely hypothetical, unless otherwise stated. if you have playtesting evidence to prove otherwise, then feel free to ignore any suggestions i make

What do you recommend for a fun exalted deck that isnt rafiq? I think the mechanic has some promise, and can be entertaining. Trading Forum

Doran, the Siege Tower Buy or Jenara, Asura of War Buy. aggresively costed creatures. doran gives you the black exalted, while jenara offers rafiq and soveriegn of lost alara as subcommanders as well as being a bit better at handling sweepers with counterspells. ![]() *disclaimer* any suggestions i make are purely hypothetical, unless otherwise stated. if you have playtesting evidence to prove otherwise, then feel free to ignore any suggestions i make

Which would you recommend as most competitive? And if I use Jenara, I may as well use rafiq, no? Trading Forum
