entering the battlefield 7/30/2012 4:18:25 AM

I have Solemn Simulacrum Buy in play then my opponent casts Phyrexian Ingester Buy, targeting my Solemn Simulacrum Buy, making it 5/5. Then I play Quicksilver Gargantuan Buy, targeting his 5/5 Phyrexian Ingester Buy. Will i have a 7/7 copy of his Phyrexian Ingester Buy that exiles his 5/5 Phyrexian Ingester Buy OR a 12/12 one that exiles his?

Second Question:

With Essence of the Wild Buy in play, will a kicked Wolfbriar Elemental Buy create Essence of the Wild Buy tokens? I know that the Wolfbriar Elemental Buy will ETB as Essence of the Wild Buy but upon casting it, I paid additional costs. What would happen? Thanks.

You'll end up with a 10/10 copy of his Phyrexian Ingester Buy. You'll start with a 7/7 Quicksilver Gargantuan Buy (cleverly disguised as a Phyrexian Ingester Buy). It will enter the battlefield, and its new ability will trigger. When it resolves, you exile the Phyrexian Ingester Buy your opponent controls.

Now here's how things happen. Phyrexian Ingester Buy's ability looks at the exiled creature card. The exiled Phyrexian Ingester Buy doesn't get the P/T bonus from exiling Solemn Simulacrum Buy, since the ability only functions while it's on the battlefield. Thus, in exile, it's only a 3/3. As such, your faux-Phyrexian Ingester Buy will get +3/+3, making it 10/10.

No. When Wolfbriar Elemental Buy enters the battlefield, it will do so as a copy of Essence of the Wild Buy, which doesn't have an "enters the battlefield" triggered ability.

Nothing much, most likely, unless some ability cares about a spell being kicked, Go, go, Saproling Infestation Buy?

Thanks!

I guess I would have to go with Skittering Invasion Buy over Wolfbriar Elemental Buy.

I beg to differ. When a card or an effect refers to something that doesn'T exists on the battlefield anymore, it takes the last known informations on that something that the game "remembers".
Which means that if you exile any card with a power and/or toughness bonus with Phyrexian Ingester Buy, it will retain the bonus of the imprinted card.

From the New Phyrexia FAQ:

Quoting New Phyrexia FAQ:* Phyrexian Ingester will get bonuses based on the card's power and toughness in exile.

* If the exiled card has a characteristic-defining ability that defines its power and/or toughness (as Slag Fiend does), that ability will apply.

* If the card in exile isn't a creature card (perhaps because it was a land that was only temporarily a creature while on the battlefield), Phyrexian Ingester doesn't get a bonus.

Note that Phyrexian Ingester Buy has two linked abilities. The first simply exiles a creature. The second looks at that exiled creature card (referring to the object as it currently is, not as it was) to determine the X and Y values for its effect.

In addition:

Quoting CompRules:604.7. Unlike spells and other kinds of abilities, static abilities can’t use an object’s last known information for purposes of determining how their effects are applied.

Last Known Information
Information about an object that’s no longer in the zone it’s expected to be in, or information about a player that’s no longer in the game. This information captures that object’s last existence in that zone or that player’s last existence in the game. See rules 112.7a, 608.2b, 608.2g, and 800.4g.

The object is exactly where it's expected to be, so there's no use for last known information.
