Does anyone on staff know what the future of this site holds? I am almost willing to accept the response "There is no future for this website. I'll see everyone at MTGGoldfish." But I am beginning to become weary of the persistent radio silence. my decks need attention

The future of this site is Status Quo. But it still works for me, it's quite useful to catalog my many decks and manage my collection. I hope it survives for several years to come!

It could be useful. Just banned restricted lists are invalid. In legacy sensei's top and deathrite shaman missing for example. Someone might build old school decks being certain that's legal. Guess rules (including all errata) and banned + restricted cards should be updated asap.

I also noticed that the cards of the newest set hasn't been added yet - but that could just be the webmaster being too busy lately. I still use the site for compiling deck ideas.

I’ve got to say, it’s crazy to think that I signed up on this site in 2003. Wow. I appreciate that it’s still up and we can use it for collections and some deck building. Nice to see what I have. I've also been a member since 2003 or so. I still use this site, but fearing it might go down anyday, I have just finished migrating all my decks + collection to another site. Too bad I had to this... I was hopeful that the new owner would bring some much needed change to EM, but alas, nothing has been done since that time. I will remain faithful, however, as I still enjoy using EM.

This site seems to be dead. Having said that; does anyone have a way to move an entire collection en masse? I just need it to be from this site to another reasonable site for collection tracking and deck building. my decks need attention

I really hope that this site picks back up, the search for newer card rarity and such is fixed and now the top columns shortcut bar needs to be fixed. Sets need to be added a bit faster. I LIVE on this site as it is the best to brainstorm and put decks together, as it is the only one I found where you can search akin to gatherer for criteria, find all the options and 1 click add to the deck vs. typing it all in, searching on other sites first and manually adding them, etc. Who do we need to talk to in order to fix and add and get things moving again!?

I hope it picks back up too. I've been looking at the other alternatives: MTGgoldfish, mtgcollectionbuilder, and deckbox. They all have some major drawback that makes one realize how spoiled we've been with essentialmagic. MTGgoldfish doesn't provide any analysis on your deck nor is there a feasible way to add a collection (for free). mtgcollectionbuilder is nice, but it lacks a way to create decks and the search function is restricted to only card names. Deckbox looks like it could be a winner, but their free version lacks a way to create private decks. Are there any other sites that I'm missing? The only reason I'm looking at these alternatives is because M20 and Throne of Eldraine haven't been added to essentialmagic. I would gladly assist in scripting up whatever is necessary to add in these cards (and sets to come).

Where are the site staff to update us on the state of the site? While I don't think that they'd take you up on your offer to volunteer your help; I do wish they'd tell us what the hold-up is on updating the database. I don't even need them to add Pioneer as a format just yet. my decks need attention

I've recently been in contact with the site owner in regards to purchasing eM (I was hoping to develop/upgrade the website myself). I was met with a curt response from him, simply stating that the site isn't for sale - he wasn't even curious as to what the offer price was. That probably means this site still means a lot to the owner and he isn't willing to part ways with it for any amount of money. But it's been years since the new owner took over and it doesn't appear that the site has seen virtually any updates other than the occasional database update, so I don't believe that bodes well.

I'm sure the site still makes a little revenue off of the advertisements, but as interest in the site wanes due to lack of updates that revenue has to be decreasing as well. I'm surprised the owner wouldn't at least hear how much an offer would be. It's been months since the last set update and I'm starting to doubt there will ever be another, so what's the point of holding on to it any more? I too love the essential magic deck builder and am super sad to see the site dying like this. Pray for a miracle

Better stop praying and move on! I just popped back for a visit and nothing has been updated (latest sets) since the last time I checked. There is no use wishing for the site to get back to life, its owner obviously doesn't care or isn't willing to invest the time + energy to do so. It's a shame really, I had been a regular member since around 2002.
